DAY 1 : HO CHI MINH - MEKONG DELTA– HO CHI MINH 1 DAY [L]
Breakfast at the hotel.
At around 8:00 AM, our professional tour guide and driver will arrive at your hotel to pick you up. After a brief introduction and settling in the vehicle, we begin our journey, leaving the bustling city behind as we head south to Ben Tre province, located in the heart of the Mekong Delta.
Upon arrival in Ben Tre, we start the day with a boat trip on the Ben Tre River, one of the many branches of the mighty Mekong River. As the boat glides gently along the water, you’ll see lush mangrove trees lining the riverbanks, forming a peaceful green corridor. Observe the lively scenes of daily life along the river: bustling town markets by the water's edge, fishing boats coming in with their fresh catch, and cargo boats loaded with coconuts, a signature product of the region.
The boat takes us deeper into the countryside where we will visit local, family-run workshops in Nhon Thanh village. These places offer a unique look into the traditional ways of life and local handicrafts that have been passed down through generations. You’ll see how locals make a living from the abundant natural resources around them.
Our next stop is a traditional brick kiln, where bricks are still handmade using age-old techniques. It’s a fascinating process that requires both patience and skill, and provides insight into rural industry in the Mekong Delta.
We then continue our boat trip, turning onto the tranquil Cai Son Canal, which winds its way through dense coconut groves. This part of the tour offers a close-up view of how locals use coconuts in every aspect of their life. We visit a small coconut processing workshop, where you’ll witness every stage of coconut production—from removing the husk to hand-peeling and separating the useful parts.
As we navigate through narrow waterways, we stop at a local coconut candy workshop, where you can see firsthand how these sweet treats are made by hand, using traditional methods. You’re welcome to try some freshly made candies, taste seasonal fruits, and enjoy traditional Southern folk music (Đờn ca tài tử) performed by local musicians.
Afterward, we disembark and take a short walk through the village to visit a local farmer’s house, where you can see how sleeping mats are woven by hand using natural materials. You’ll have the opportunity to interact with the host and learn more about rural daily life.
We then hop on a tuk-tuk, a motorized three-wheeled vehicle, and drive through peaceful countryside roads shaded by coconut trees, further immersing ourselves in the tranquil landscape. Our next stop is a local restaurant, where a delicious Vietnamese lunch made from fresh local ingredients awaits. Enjoy your meal in a serene riverside setting.
After lunch, we continue the experience with a peaceful rowing boat ride along small canals, shaded by dense palm trees, offering a moment of quiet connection with nature.
Finally, we return by boat to the Chet Say pier, where our vehicle awaits. From there, we transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City, arriving in the late afternoon.
End of tour.
